soooooooooo I had a lot of leftover ribbon from the ribbon rosettes…so I made my own garters…I measured out the ribbon wrong on both the throw away garter (the one jae takes off at the reception and the the single guy catches) and the keepsake garter (for later ;-P)
but I don’t really care cuz it’s late and I’m out of ribbon now…=P
here’s how I made them
Need:
sewing machine
matching color thread
needle
2x ~12 inches of ribbon of choice
measured elastic band (around your thigh)
2x ~12 inches of lace (optional)
scissors
Accessories (optional) *mine were Hello Kitty Scrabble Pendants from Etsy.com =P
cut all materials…again…I forgot I was doubling up on the elastic band so I cut the ribbon and lace too long…Ribbon and Lace should be about 1.5 times longer than the measured elastic
my Hello Kitty Scrabble pendants! hehehehe so I didn’t think I’d be able to see the letters on the backs of the scrabble pendants so I didn’t really care which letter I got…well…the letters do show…I should have requested L’s for both of them but I only got lucky with the throw away garter that has an L scrabble tile…=T
so I put the lace between 2 layers of ribbon with as much lace as I wanted shown on the outside between the layers…so I can flip the ribbon inside out so none of the thread shows (2nd picture) and sewed all three layers (ribbon, lace, ribbon) together…I cut off the excess lace that won’t show…
sew the other side shut too to form a tube…
safetypin the ends of the elastic band to both openings…
and flip the entire tube inside out…
sew the gaping hole shut with needle and thread…sew on the accessory or pendant of choice…and voila! one tackified garter! =P
I made the keepsake garter with lace on both sides….=]

I like them both. So, if they’re both big… how are the activities going to work? B/C aren’t they going to be falling off? lol, i would be sad if these are too big and it actually fit. oh thighs.
The elastic fits. The ribbon tube is too long on the throwaway which is why it’s so scrunched up and short on the keepsake so it’s a bit more spread out and not so scrunchy. It won’t fall off. =]
